Post NIN – glow

So…

The NIN concert last night had to be one of the best gigs I’ve ever been to. Simply the best possible setlist, awesome sound. I was ecstatic. Only thing I’d change – I’d be in the mosh. Oh, and I has two t-shirts! They sold out of pretty much everything after the gig, only XL sized shirts by the time I got to the front of the line.

Shame to hear that this is likely the last time Trent plays in New Zealand. From the noise and discussions after the Lights in the Sky tour, sounds like the live band is approaching the end of its touring days. Still, after Lights in the Sky – it’s hardly surprising I guess. I don’t think there’s any argument LitS was their best tour to date, hands down.

Looking forward to see where things go from here. Ghosts and Year Zero were both awesome works :) Oh, and anyone who liked Ghosts might want to check out Bass Communion – some awesome atmospheric style stuff from Steven Wilson (of Porcupine Tree fame). Check out Steve’s other stuff too, his solo work is awesome (Insurgentes). Thanks for the tip, Steve :)

Anyway, off to bed.

Happy New Year!

Heya,

Happy new year! Hope you’ve all had a great hols, drunk too much, ate too much and in general been frivolous and merry :) But I’m pretty sure you all have if I know you :D

Life is good!

Work is awesome, though busy, and full on at times. There’s a surprise and a half, right? :D Continuing to do new and interesting things.

I’ve been a little more prolific with taking photos, though feeling a little bit of photo’s block to be honest. I’m very keen to get a little more active in a few ways, got plans for a portfolio site and finally putting some photos up on a friends stock photo website :) Have plans to do a wedding photo course this year, could be a bit of fun. Let me know if you have any photos you need taken :D Oh, and portfolio means I might finally fix up my webserver :D

Reading plenty :) Palahniuk, Pratchet, Gaiman and Koontz. Need to find new books!

Oh, and as usual listening to plenty of music. Recent faves are Lacuna Coil, Ladywolfe, old faves Arcade Fire, Death Cab for Cutie, Jakob, Ladytron. Have been enjoying Thom Yorke and Trent alot also, once again, big surprise there.

Let you all know when I’ve got new photos up, it’s about time right? :) But you will hear from me soon.

Keep in touch

Slacker

So yeah, I know I’ve been terrible at keeping this up to date. I’m gonna try once more, see if I can type a little something out each week at least. I’ve been thinking of setting up a blog as a diary for myself, and if I did, it’d likely make me chuck more stuff up on here.

Life is good :) Been pretty busy with work and whatnot, but keeping in trouble. I mean outta trouble. Whoops :)

Getting back into Kiado again which has been awesome, and catching up with old friends. Which I’ll be doing more of now I’m not working like a crazy man :) And finally reading again, I’ve picked up quite a few books lately. Photography has been a little slow, but at least lately I’ve been working on getting them all organised again.

Well, I better get off to bed anyhow, hope everyone is well! Gimme a bell if you feel left out :)

Snowbunnies Ho!

Another quickie…

Went snowboarding on the weekend, was most excellent. Best thing I’ve done in fecking ages. Will definately be going again. Even looking at buying board and bindings.

Found a new place to stay. It’s super sweet, but I’ve gotta wait for the 1st before I can move in.

Had a ding with a taxi on the weekend, feckr stopped right in front of me. So I’m dealing with the inevitable dramas, insurance, all that palaver. Pretty much done and dusted now.

Been making plenty of new friends, and catching up with old ones. You know who you are on both points :D It’s good to have people around again.

Have been listening to The Slip plenty, and lots of other stuff. Remembering how much I liked Stabbing Westward, and enjoying it today.

Dedication to someone in particular – just because I feel like it (you know who you are):

Stabbing Westward – Happy

You probably won’t even be reading this, but meh.

Songs always did say so many things I couldn’t

I’m glad to have so many things in my life sorted.

The Slip

Just a quickie.

Still looking about for flats. have seen some pretty good candidates, but many are just a little too small. Playing wait and see, hopefully know by this weekend whether I’ve got something for sure.

“The Slip” came out 5 May (new NIN album). Enjoying it, some powerful tracks, but is also rather “raw”. The more I listen, the more I enjoy. Feel the overwhelming need to pull down the mix tracks from remix.nin.com and do some mixing myself though.

Off to Auckkers this weekend, catch up with an old friend I haven’t seen in a while. Looking forward to it :)

See you when I see you :)

The happy hap haps

Hey peeps,

So yeah, life has been a little interesting. I’m still looking around for a place to live, as my previous digs fell through. There are a few options so things look good, it’s just a matter of time. In the meantime, I’m sleeping on a friends couch :)

Just wanted to say thanks to all my friends out there that have helped me through this. I owe all of you guys big time, good to know who your friends are :)

On a positive note, work has been going uber. I’m really enjoying things and have been getting mad props over my work for the last couple of weeks. At least something is going right :D

Photos – I’ll be getting back to ‘em as soon as I can. I’ve been slack as I need to charge batteries, no real excuse why I can’t upload the shiz I’ve taken lately though. Might even get onto this on the weekend if I have time, but I’m over to Rotovegas. Will sort it out at some stage.

That’s it for now, will be trying to update this more often from here on in (maybe once a week).

Stay cool till after school

Jakob = Awesome

Yeah, I’m back. So what you gonna do :D

Went to see Jakob the other night at Yellow Submarine. Absolutely awesome gig, I have to say. If you enjoy a little more mellow, instrumental styles, then you should look them up. They’re similar in a lot of ways to God is an Astronaut, Aether, and the like. Not ashamed to say I just about cried a few times.

Added to the suggested listening list:

Arcade Fire – Been listening to these peeps quite a bit lately, for one reason or another
Cog – Suggested by a friend at work, these guys are awesome

Been listening to:
